Herschel, Uranus and Mary Shelley’s Vision of Horror – Alex Trenoweth 2023-10-10

Mary Shelley’s gothic masterpiece “Frankenstein” has been horrifying us since it was published shortly after the discovery of Uranus, the first planet sighted with a man-made invention. This lecture examines the astrology of the events surrounding the discovery of this planet as well as those inventions that push the morality boundaries for humankind. Have we made the world a better place or have we just made life a more terrifying existence?
