Welcome to ISAR

ISAR is dedicated to encouraging the highest standards of quality in astrology. We do that in several ways: by offering a certification program that emphasizes ethics awareness, competence in techniques and interpretation, and empathic consulting skills; by promoting data accuracy and the reporting of original sources; by networking with other organizations to provide the best astrological educational services available anywhere; by sponsoring research to help build the body of proven scientific evidence relevant to astrology; by issuing a professionally written Journal and a weekly e-newsletter.

ISAR provides members with several benefits.  Its journal, The International Astrologer, mailed three times per year, provides thought-provoking and educational articles with a variety of astrological perspectives.  The weekly e-newsletter allows each member to share ideas, ask for help, or provide perspective.  Membership includes reduced admission fees to conferences, a free biennial membership directory, and a free annual astrological pocket calendar.  Perhaps most important of all is the sense of community that members share as we work together on our common goal of promoting professionalism in astrology.

ISAR Reduces Membership Fees for Current Members

At its recent meeting, the ISAR board had a serious discussion about the world economic crisis that has now started. Many people are suffering due to this downturn, and the directors began to think: is there a way we can show a little compassion for our members in these difficult times? Is their some symbol of appreciation we can demonstrate on their behalf? And this is what we came up with:

ISAR is going to reduce its membership fees by $5.00 to every member who renews or extends their membership over the next year. We know it doesn’t sound like much at first, but when you consider that we were discussing how much to raise our membership fees, to be in line with comparable service and benefits of other professional astrology organizations, the difference is indeed considerable.

And it is not like we need to make this gesture to attract even more members, for now, for the first time ever, ISAR’s membership is well above 1500 world-wide members. We expect this double by the end of this decade. The reason for reducing the annual or three-year membership ? for current members only ? is is purely to express an awareness of the difficult financial times we are living in. With the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto T-square looming ahead for another 1-2 years, this financially critical time may not end too soon. And we don’t want to risk losing those who have been good members of this wonderful organization by raising our rates in these difficult times.

So for the next year, October 2008 through 2009, all 1-year membership renewals and/or extensions of memberships by renewal will be reduced to from $39.00 to $34.00 for USA residents and from $44.00 to $39.00 for members from other countries. Three-year memberships will be reduced to $85.00 for USA residents and $110.00 for all others.  And also remember that as ISAR members, you will qualify for a great discount to the ISAR 2009 conference. In fact, if you sign up by November 15, you will get an amazing discount of only $195.00! That is a HUGE discount off the $460.00 it will cost to attend after July 25, 2009 if you are not a member. So, fight the financial crisis, by locking in big savings now. Renew your membership if you are coming due, and sign up for ISAR 2009 in this special super-saver discount window time frame for the ISAR 2009 conference: “Astrology’s Value to Society,” taking place August 19-24, 20009 at the beautiful Oakbrook Hills Marriott Resort, just outside Chicago! Go to www.isar2009.com. It is all coming upon line now.
